Building StreakHQ: A Multi-Tenant Sports Competition Platform with Laravel

The challenge

Sports competitions often begin with rules that sound simple: pick a winner or predict a score. Running those competitions reliably is considerably more complex.

Fixtures move, deadlines change, players may have multiple entries, picks must lock at the correct time, results must be scored consistently, ties and prizes need deterministic handling, and administrators need safe ways to deal with exceptional states.

StreakHQ also needed to support multiple organisations within one platform while keeping their players, competitions, administration and data appropriately separated.

The solution

StreakHQ was built as a multi-tenant Laravel platform. Each organisation can operate its own competitions, administrators, players, public pages and operational settings while sharing a common application foundation. Users can belong to multiple organisations, with organisation owner and admin roles, member and player workflows, and separate platform-owner tooling.

Shared platform functionality handles organisations, entries, entry units, entry-fee and payment-status workflows, visibility, rules and communications. Dedicated competition services implement the rules that differ between formats. Last Man Standing covers eligible team selection, fixture and deadline validation, fallback picks, elimination and settlement; League Round Predictor supports score predictions across multiple entry units, fixture-based locking, scoring, leaderboards, ties, prize places and rollover rules.

Time-sensitive rules are centralised in dedicated services. Competition deadlines can be derived from fixture times, overridden when necessary, enforced at submission time and processed through scheduled workflows. Fixture synchronisation can update calculated deadlines when kickoff times change, while individual predictions are protected from editing after their fixtures begin. Public organisation and competition pages lead into player workspaces for joining, entries, picks, predictions, round navigation, leaderboards and rules acknowledgement. A substantial part of day-to-day operation is available through organisation-admin interfaces for competitions, fixtures, results, entries, payment state, rules, announcements and reports.

The platform was designed to remain operable when real-world events do not follow the happy path. Targeted LMS pick diagnostics, deadline recovery, settlement reversal, dry-run repair tools, fixture refreshes and idempotent processing provide controlled ways to investigate and repair exceptional states. Queued competition communications and staggered promotional campaigns include tenant-aware recipient eligibility, opt-outs and duplicate protection.

The outcome

StreakHQ demonstrates Gerrard SBS's ability to turn complex, evolving business rules into a maintainable application with separate player and administration experiences. The Gerrard SBS product combines multi-tenant architecture, reusable competition engines, time-critical workflows, fixture synchronisation, communications and operational tooling in a single Laravel application, providing a working example of capability beyond Magento with the same focus on reliable, maintainable engineering.
